I’ve recently discovered a new love and appreciation for both Legos and wooden train sets. Their sheer simplicity makes them appealing to me because there are no electronic parts to break or batteries to buy, and the versatility make them fun to play with (both for the kids and us adults!) and ensure the little ones don’t get bored.

How can you beat that?

But what I have noticed is that both items are expensive! I get that they last for-EVER, but still! Anyway, what that means is that whenever there is a sale on train sets or Legos, you can bet I’m checking in to it.

For the first time in a long time, Kids.Woot! has the Thomas the Engine Wooden Railroad Station up for grabs. But it’s only for today. And it’s priced at $59.99, plus $5 in shipping.

What do you think? Worth the $60? Or have you found it less expensive somewhere else?

That price sounds about right. At least the last time I looked at Thomas train sets, which are the most popular — and priciest — of the lot.

I hate to burst your bubble, but Lego/Hasbro/Mattel uses paper from a company that’s threatening the habitat of the last 400 Sumatran tigers. :( Search for “Ken dumps Barbie, the breakup” for more info on greenpeace’s campaign to get these companies to mend their ways. I don’t know if that will work. I know it’s put a damper on my buying those brands… Again, hate to be a bummer – I loved Legos as a kid.
