Local foods are one of my saving graces . . . especially when it comes to my budget. And by local I mean those coming from my nearby Farmer’s Market and my very own backyard. I also happen to be an avid canner, so I can preserve my local food goodness for all the winter months to come.
And while I don’t get all crazy about my garden planting — meaning, I have friends that spend months planning the layout of their gardens on grid paper — I do get pretty excited about getting my seeds in the ground. And I’m surprised I did not know that a “seed of the month” club existed.
I’m totally excited that I accidentally found this today. It’s kind of the same feeling you get when you put on your winter coat and find $5 in the pocket.
Here’s how it works. When you become a member of the Seed of the Month Club (administered by Mike the Gardener), you’ll receive 8 packs of seeds to get you started and then 4 additional packs each month for one full year. All seeds are non-genetically modified and only available to members of the club.
Normally a membership retails for $32 (which is an amazing deal to begin with because you’ll save 100′s of dollars in your grocery budget) but for the next 5 days, you can purchase the membership for $15 through Mom.com.
