I’ve been on a major de-cluttering kick for quite some time. I think it started when we had to shuffle everyone around to new bedrooms after the arrival of Ella.
But for whatever reason it happened, I’m happy it did. I can’t believe the amount of stuff we had collected in just 4 years!
One thing I’ve had a hard time parting with though is my books. I love to read and although I have an e-reader, I just can’t seem to part with copies of my books.
In some cases, these are books that I know I will read again. In other cases, these are books I spent a significant amount of money on and don’t want to just donate them to the local library or thrift shop (not that I don’t think these are great causes, but…..). Then today I was browsing around Amazon.com and in my sidebar of recommendations, there was a little message telling me that if I wanted to trade in the copy of a book I purchased last year, I would receive an Amazon.com gift card for $4.75.
Now, I realize that’s not a ton of money, but it’s a little something. And that’s just for one book. Imagine if I really go through all the books I have and see what they’re worth?
Book buybacks and trade-ins are nothing new. But here’s what I love about the Amazon.com offer: you can use your gift card on anything you want. Buy toys, diapers, music, movies, food…..or more books! It’s entirely up to you!
Check out the program and see what it’s about. Is this something you would be interested in doing? Have you already done it? Let us know how it worked out!
