Have a New Books-A-Million Opening in Your Neighborhood?

Posted on Oct 31, 2011 by 1 Comment

Chances are, you had a Borders store in your neck of the woods. I know we did, and boy do I miss it.

And while we do have lots of locally owned bookstores that I like to browse the shelves of, being in a large bookstore with big, comfy chairs, an endless selection, and a cafe is just a whole different experience.

I’m happy to say that our locations was one of a few that will be converted to a Books-A-Million location. And believe you me, I’m stalking that location for any sign of it opening. Read more…

Shop the Toy Sale at Kohl’s

Posted on Oct 27, 2011 by 2 Comments

So I swung by Kohl’s today after I retrieved my car from the mechanic (meaning, I certainly didn’t have any money to spend, but it’s a rainy day so I was in a shopping kind of mood) and I noticed that the very limited toy department was very much on sale.

Naturally, I came home and looked online because the selection is so much better and lo and behold, all the online toys are on sale for 20–35% off. Read more…

Mini Blackboard with Eraser for $5: Great for Dinner Out with the Kids

Posted on Oct 26, 2011 by No Comments

I’m pretty much a fan of anything that can keep my kids busy while we’re waiting for dinner at a restaurant or waiting to get in to see the pediatrician. I’m constantly picking up little trinkets to throw in the diaper bag for those types of situations.

Measuring in at 7.6″ x 4″ and coming with a mini eraser and three pieces of chalk, this is just the right size for a handbag or diaper bag. Plus, it’s got a little stand on the back so you can prop it up if you choose.

And for $5? I can probably find that much money in my couch cushions if I really look hard enough. Read more…

Great Stocking Stuffer! 2 Movie Tickets for $12!

Posted on Oct 25, 2011 by 2 Comments

Wow, did I really just say that? But it’s true. Two movie tickets for $12? That’s craziness!

Typically these movie passes are not good for movies the first week they are out, but I’ve had no trouble using them on any other movies (unless the theater just flat-out won’t accept a pass). And the only stipulation with these is they are only good until January 31st, 2012.

But, what a great thing to use during the holiday break with the kids? Read more…

Save 75% on Ranger Rick Family of Magazines

Posted on Oct 12, 2011 by No Comments

This deal has come up once before, and if you didn’t get a chance to take advantage last time, you have another opportunity.

I recently go to see one of the Animal Baby magazines up close and personal and let me tell you, it’s fantastic! Because this magazine is specifically for the younger set (think 2-4), it’s made of a heavier-weight paper so it doesn’t tear easily.

Of course, all the magazines are advertisement-free and totally educational. Read more…

Save 66% on GOgroove Koola Portable Speakers

I can think of a million uses for these speakers.

Plus, they’re super cute!

We have a family that loves to dance. Now, we’re not necessarily good at it, but we like to do it anyway. Especially our toddler.

At any rate, we do not have music in ever room in our house, which means we end up spending a lot of time in the kitchen and living room where we do have music. But with these little speakers, we could even head out to the backyard and shake our booties! Read more…
